Original WCE learning materials

The original ESL100 lesson text, Arabic explanations, dialogues, quizzes and workbook are licensed under Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0). VOA Learning English videos

The course links and streams original teaching videos from VOA Learning English: Let’s Learn English Level I. VOA identifies its own Learning English texts, audio, photos and video as public domain, with source credit requested. Third-party agency material is excluded. Read the VOA content-use policy.

Videos remain hosted by VOA. If a video cannot play here, use its “Open video and transcript” link. Each lesson has an original WCE watch-and-practice task.

British listening resources

BBC and British Council resources are linked for study. Their videos, transcripts, worksheets, logos and other content retain their original copyright; WCE does not relicense or reproduce them.

A practical adult-learning approach

ESL100 prioritizes everyday communication, study and work tasks, listening, speaking, reading and writing. Community-college adult ESL programs, including MiraCosta College’s noncredit ESL program, provide useful examples of this approach. WCE ESL100 is an independent self-study course and is not affiliated with or approved by these providers.
